Policies and Restrictions
General Policies:
Deposits
We require a $50 deposit to schedule your pet’s dental procedure. This deposit helps us reserve your appointment time and ensures we can provide consistent care to all our patients. The deposit is applied toward the total cost of your pet’s procedure.
-
Rescheduling with at least 7 days’ notice: Life happens! If you let us know at least a week in advance, we’re happy to apply your deposit to a new appointment.
-
Cancellations with less than 7 days’ notice: Deposits are nonrefundable in this case. This policy helps us manage our schedule so we can continue offering care to other pets in need.
-
No call / no show: Unfortunately, the deposit will be forfeited, and a new deposit of $100 will be required to schedule another appointment.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation—your deposit helps us provide safe, high-quality dental care for every pet, and ensures that we can serve as many pets in our community as possible.
Appointments
To provide the best care for your pet, our dental procedure check-ins are scheduled between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM. Pre-dental labwork and post-dental recheck appointments are scheduled between 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM.
We do not offer late morning or afternoon appointments, as our schedule is designed to allow us to give each pet the focused attention they need during procedures and recovery.

We do not accept walk-in appointments. All visits must be scheduled in advance to ensure every patient receives the care, time, and attention they deserve.
Expectations
Pre-Dental Instructions
-
Fasting: Please do not feed your pet after 8:00 PM the night before their dental procedure, and skip breakfast the morning of the appointment. This is important for your pet’s safety under anesthesia. If you pet requires a morning medication that cannot be given safely on an empty stomach, you may administer the medication with a small treat or a single bite of food. Please inform our clinical staff of any food administered on the morning of your pet's appointment so that we can safely adjust our protocols.

Consent Form:
-
At check-in, you will review and sign a Dental Procedure and Anesthesia Consent Form. This form covers CPR/DNR preferences, instructions if we cannot reach you during the procedure, and informed consent for the risks associated with anesthesia and dentistry. You may request a copy to review ahead of time, but the form must be signed in person with one of our staff members present on the morning of the procedure.

Procedure Day:
-
Please plan for your pet to stay with us for most of the day. Discharge times are generally scheduled in the afternoon to ensure we can monitor your pet appropriately during recovery. Final pick-up times are set once your pet’s dental procedure is complete and they are safely in recovery.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding—these steps help us provide safe, high-quality care and ensure your pet has a smooth recovery.
Comprehensive Treatment Policy
Our goal is to provide the highest standard of care for your pet’s oral health. Dental disease is often more extensive below the gumline than can be detected during an awake oral examination. For this reason, all dental procedures are performed under anesthesia and include full-mouth dental radiographs.
Based on the findings from the awake exam, we provide a treatment estimate range. The lower end reflects the minimum anticipated care, while the upper end accounts for additional treatment that may be necessary once a complete evaluation—including dental radiographs—is performed.
Please note the following important policy:
-
We do not perform partial treatment when active dental disease is present.
-
If additional diseased teeth are identified during the procedure, we will recommend treatment (including extractions) to fully address the condition.
-
Leaving diseased teeth untreated can result in ongoing pain, infection, and progression of disease, which is not in the best interest of your pet’s health and welfare.
By proceeding with a dental procedure at our hospital, you acknowledge and agree that:
-
Treatment recommendations will be based on comprehensive findings under anesthesia, including radiographs.
-
Necessary extractions or treatments may extend beyond the initially identified tooth/teeth identified on the awake exam.
-
We will not knowingly leave diseased teeth untreated.
If you have concerns about the scope of treatment or estimate range, we strongly encourage discussing them with our team prior to the procedure so we can ensure your expectations align with our standard of care. Our priority is to relieve pain, eliminate infection, and restore your pet’s oral health as completely and safely as possible.

Candidate Restrictions
If you pet has a preexisting condition that makes them a poor candidate for anesthesia (ex. uncontrolled diabetes, liver failure, cancer, severe systemic illness or infection, etc), we unfortuantely will not be able to perform the dental procedure for your pet. Chronic diseases must be worked up and managed with your primary veterinarian prior to being permitted to schedule.

Our clinical staff will review your pet's medical records prior to being cleared to schedule for a dental procedure. This will help to ensure your pet is a good candidate for general anesthesia. Our goal is to keep your pet's safety as our top priority!

In some cases, pets with stable or well-managed conditions may still safely undergo anesthesia with us using tailored protocols and additional monitoring/treatments, however these cases are reviewed prior to scheduling and are only accepted on a case by case basis.

Aggressive / Fractious Animal Policy
For the safety of our staff, clients, and patients, we require that all animals presented for care can be safely handled.

Animals exhibiting severe fear, aggression, or fractious behavior (including biting, lunging, or being unable to be safely restrained) may not be examined or treated during that visit.

If a pet has a known history of aggression or cannot be safely handled:
-
Pre-visit oral sedatives are required prior to the appointment
-
Oral sedatives must be successfully administered at home as prescribed
-
Owners must be able to safely handle and transport their pet

If these conditions are not met, the appointment will be rescheduled or declined.
This decision is made strictly for the safety and welfare of all involved, including your pet. We do not force or physically struggle with highly distressed animals, as this:
-
Increases risk of injury
-
Causes unnecessary fear and stress
-
Can worsen future veterinary visits
We are happy to provide sedation protocols or alternative options to help ensure a safe and low-stress experience.
